EVendo score
EVendo estimates the likelihood of oesophageal varices in cirrhosis from routine tests. A score below 3.90 identifies patients unlikely to have varices needing treatment, who might defer screening endoscopy. Where liver stiffness is available, use the Baveno VIII rules.

How it is worked out
A = 8.5 × INR + AST ÷ 35. B = platelets (× 10⁹/L) ÷ 150 + BUN (mg/dL) ÷ 20 + haemoglobin (g/dL) ÷ 15. EVendo = A ÷ B, plus 1 if ascites is present. Urea in mmol/L is multiplied by 2.8 to give BUN in mg/dL.
