Belching disorders (Rome IV)
Belching disorders are divided into supragastric belching, where air is drawn into the oesophagus and expelled, and gastric belching, from the stomach. Impedance monitoring tells them apart. The Rome IV criteria are summarised here in our own words, and are a guide to a positive diagnosis alongside appropriate investigation. See the Rome Foundation for the original criteria.
